2005-05-29 1:48 AM D-Land Night Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Mostly happy and content, except for the whole thing with the quilt. Read/Post Comments (1) Today we slept in. The cats stayed in the other room, so we didn't have to worry about being peed on. We checked the apartment again today and no other pee spots were found. Once we got ready and headed out our first stop was at the Sherman Oaks mall. I needed a link removed from my watch. That was quick and when it was done we grabbed a "Wetzel dog" for lunch and then headed out of the mall. Our second stop was at Milt and Edie's, the dry cleaner that we took our quilt to. We picked up the quilt and the way it was rolled up made it look as if a body was stuffed into the trunk of Rob's car. We then headed to Disneyland. It was almost nightfall and the weather was very nice. We knew it would be crowded from the minute we parked. We had to park on the roof of the parking structure... a place we've never been. Damn that lot is big! We first headed to California Adventure and went on the Tower of Terror. Then we spent some time in the room with the animation screens all around you. California Adventure was pretty empty and there was almost no wait for the ride. We then debated about watching the Electrical Light Parade (a favorite of mine), but in the interest of time decided not to. So, we headed over to Disneyland, which was far from empty. Disneyland was packed. Probably more packed than I have ever seen it, and that's saying something considering how it gets sometimes. We managed to get some pineapple juice from the Dole stand and go on a few rides. We went on Pirates first (there was a bit of a wait, but nothing big) and then went on the Haunted Mansion. We really lucked out with that because the show over the lake was going on so we just walked right in. We then took the train to Tomorrowland and hopped on the Monorail and took that to Downtown Disney. We went to dinner at the Rainforest Cafe and because we were willing to sit on the patio there was no wait. Dinner was yummy and when we were done Rob managed to get me a purple balloon. That made me very happy because I LOVE the Mickey "glass house" balloons and haven't been able to get one the past few times we've been there. We then headed back to the car and came home. When we got home we were disappointed to find out that the quilt we just got dry cleaned (a $350 silk quilt) is probably going to end up being garbage. The dry cleaner's did a good job of getting the stains off of it, but it still had an odor of pee to it. We used Sydney as our test subject (because if it's not his pee he tends to become fascinated by it and smells it and tries to bury it) and sure enough, he started sniffing all over and tried to bury the quilt. We can't use it because it still smells and if the cats get into our bedroom Amber will probably pee on it again. One thing we've learned in the past is that if we don't get the pee smell out of something completely, she'll keep peeing on it. So we packed it up and stuffed it in the front hall closet for now. I'm so glad we bought a new blanket yesterday, especially since the quilt can't be used right now. I figure we'll call the dry cleaners back tomorrow and see if there's any way to get the cat pee smell out of it. Back when she used to pee on things we learned that washing something in water combined with white vinegar works nicely to get the smell out, however since this is silk it can't be washed. Only dry cleaned. Any tips from anyone who knows if there's any way to salvage this quilt would be greatly appreciated. I just bought this a few months ago and I really don't want to just throw it out considering how nice (and expensive) it was. ----------
