Today we got up at 7:30am so that we could hit the road around 9am. The four of us (my Mom, Nana, Rob, and myself) were heading to the Milwaukee area for a few things.

The drive there was around three hours long. For a good leg of the journey, it was raining pretty hard and we kept our eyes on the skies to make sure we didn't see any tornadoes forming. Luckily, there were none. At least that we saw.

Lunch was had at Culver's (mmmmm, butter burgers) and then we headed to my Uncle Kim and Aunt Pam's house. We dropped Nana off there and then Mom, Rob, and I headed back out.

We made a stop at a fabric store first. We finally found the material we had been looking for. Yay! I then called my Grandma Eleanor since she didn't know if she'd be around today or not when I called her last night. She was heading to a doctor's appointment and would be gone before we would have been able to get to her house. So unfortunately, we weren't able to see her. This sucks because I know we won't be able to fly out here for Xmas so I don't know when the next time I'll get out here and be able to see her will be. Bleh.

We then headed to a mall where I looked (very unsucessfully) for some clothes that I desperately need but just can't find. Fuck. Let's just hope my Mom can work some magic with the fabric that we bought or there's a good chance I won't be able to leave the house for a good long time.

After the mall we checked out Milwaukee and some of the outlying areas. Both Rob and I liked it. Very nice and clean city. And wow, the housing prices out here are AMAZING!!! If we stay in L.A. we'll never be able to move out of an apartment and into a house. We just won't be able to afford it. But if we move to Milwaukee we could start out right away in a house. We found two beautiful places in super nice neighborhoods and one was going for $295k and the other was $379k. Amazing. You can't get anything decent in L.A. for that. We also found a mansion that had maid's quarters and a friggin' ballroom for only $699k. As much as we want to stay in L.A. due to the fact that all our friends are there and Rob has a stable job with good security there, Milwaukee might be our best bet. We'll actually be able to afford a house there and have the life we want. Job hunting in Milwaukee is next to impossible since I'm not licensed as an attorney in Wisconsin, so I'm going to see if there's any way that Frank (my tax attorney and a friend of my Dad's from law school) can aid me in finding something out there. We'd also have to worry about moving costs if we did move. It's scary expensive for a cross country move, especially with everything we have. I don't know. I don't want to leave our friends and Rob's job behind, but there's no way we can have the life we want in Los Angeles. This is something Rob and I need to talk over and think about. I think right now we're leaning a bit more towards moving to Milwaukee (provided one of us finds employment there first) than we are to staying in Los Angeles.

After our tour of Milwaukee and the suburbs around it we headed back to Kim and Pam's place. Oh, one thing I forgot to mention... rush hour going from the city to the suburbs is so not like L.A. traffic. Even in rush hour the traffic isn't at all bad. Like I said, seems like a nice place to live. We picked up Nana from Kim and Pam's and then headed back home. On the way home we had dinner at Applebee's. We got back home around 9:30pm. Both Rob and I were aching from the long car rides and were pretty tired. Who knew sitting on your ass in a car all day could be tiring?
