pregnancy

Part of the reason I was waiting to make this announcement was because I wanted to make sure my Dad knew what was going on before the general public did. I also wanted to wait until I felt comfortable telling everyone. Since my last doctor's appointment went well, I feel comfortable posting this.

Many of you might have guessed this by now. Especially with the ticker at the top of this entry. I'm pregnant.

As of today I'm 9 weeks and one day pregnant. I'm due on February 22, 2006. We were able to find out the gender of the baby early. Normally you have to wait until 20+ weeks until they do an ultrasound to check the gender. However, there's a new test out there that you can order online. You send in some blood samples (which is what PK was helping us with on Monday) and they look at the two DNA strands present in it. They check both for a Y chromosome. If it's there, you're carrying a boy. If not, it's a girl. Rob and I had been hoping for a girl, and that's what we're having. We have a daughter on the way. Her name is Kaylea, but we call her the Bunny. Partly because he used to think that the saying "bun in the oven" was really "bunny in the oven" and partly because of my weird obsession with a God Bunny. So, she's our little Bunny. Her name will be Kaylea Bollinger Rossel.

So, some of the things I've been vaguely posting about are probably making a lot more sense now. I've had a lot of doctor's apppointments to check on the baby via transvaginal ultrasounds and to date how far along I am. The clothes I desperately need and can't find are maternity pants. I have a very low rise (and am plus size) and can't find any maternity pants in my size that fit in the rise. I'd either have to wear it with the panel up to my neck or with the crotch hanging below my knees. The reason I've been getting so sick after eating is from the pregnancy as well. And one of the reasons Rob and I are out at my Mom's place this week is because I won't be allowed to fly at all in my third trimester, which means we won't be able to come out here for Xmas.

So, that's my little announcement. I'm pregnant and Rob and I are expecting our daughter this February. We're both thrilled.
