The Thanksgiving Pear

Busy and getting kicked by Gabriel.

I wasn't online since my last posting and I have a lot to catch up on! One thing I forgot to mention when I posted last was that it looks like one of the little animals that comes to our balcony brought us a Thanksgiving present. We awoke Thanksgiving morning to find a half eaten pear on our balcony. My first thought was that someone chucked it up there, but then Rob pointed out where it was dragged by something. How bizarre is that?

On Friday morning Rob took his car in for it's 15,000 mile service. It took a few hours and they ripped him off big time (over $200 for a freakin' oil change service). Once the car was done we got ready and headed out to the Montclair area. We stopped at a Lane Bryant in LaVerne and at the Montclair Plaza. For the day after Thanksgiving, the mall wasn't too crowded. We had dinner at Golden China and then headed home.

On Saturday morning we took my car in for it's 4 year service. Since I'm too pregnant to fit behind the wheel of a car, I had to find a time to take it in when Rob could drive it for me. We brought our Three Dragon Ante card game with us and played while we waited for the car to be serviced. It only took an hour and the scary thing is that my appointment (which was pretty much the same services as Rob's appointment) cost less than his did! When you take into account that his car is a Toyota and mine is a Lexus, that really makes no sense whatsoever. After the car appointment we grabbed lunch at Panda Express and then I got a mani at Oasis. We then came home and napped for a few hours.

Once we woke up from our nap we headed over to the Sherman Oaks mall to get a little bit of holiday shopping done. I found two cute things for my Mom at Lane Bryant (I don't care what she says, we're getting her *something* whether she likes it or not) and Rob and I got presents (just little things) for the people in our D&D group. At some point we need to get things for my Nana, his family, and possibly my Dad if I can think of something he'd actually want, use, and not already have. We also stopped in a baby store and picked up a few cute things for Gabriel (some Robeez shoes, a teddy bear, some rattles, and a book called Yum Yum Dim Sum). My perfume (Rockin' Rio by Escada) is running low and is no longer made (it was for Spring/Summer 2005 only) so I decided to head into Victoria's Secret for some new perfume. Their "Heavenly" perfume is always a good scent for the winter. Rob ended up getting it for me and he really didn't have to. From there we headed up to Friday's for dinner and then came back home for the night.

Yesterday (Sunday) we slept in and it felt amazing. I also came to a realization that the way I'm eating for my GD is not working and I feel sicker than I have ever felt in my life. I don't want to post publicly about this so if it's something you're curious about, let me know. Anyway, after sleeping in and lazing around the house we decided to head out to the Third Street Promenade. While it's gotten quite skeezy recently, it wasn't too bad last night because almost no one was there. We wandered around a bit and had dinner at Yangtze (I probably spelled that wrong). We haven't eaten there for quite some time, so I'm glad we went. They have amazing Panang. After dinner we stopped off for some crepes (I got butter and cinammon in mine since sugar is a no-no) and then headed back home.

Today I'm doing laundry and other around the house stuff. Tomorrow I get to drag my pregnant sleepy ass out of bed at 5:30am so I can head into work with Rob and get to a 9am appointment with the GD doc. Ugh.

Julius Caesar
You scored 42 Wisdom, 69 Tactics, 34 Guts, and 49 Ruthlessness!

Roman military and political leader. He was instrumental in the transformation of the Roman Republic into the Roman Empire. His conquest of Gallia Comata extended the Roman world all the way to the Atlantic Ocean, introducing Roman influence into what has become modern France, an accomplishment of which direct consequences are visible to this day. In 55 BC Caesar launched the first Roman invasion of Britain. Caesar fought and won a civil war which left him undisputed master of the Roman world, and began extensive reforms of Roman society and government. He was proclaimed dictator for life, and heavily centralized the already faltering government of the weak Republic. Caesar's friend Marcus Brutus conspired with others to assassinate Caesar in hopes of saving the Republic. The dramatic assassination on the Ides of March was the catalyst for a second set of civil wars, which marked the end of the Roman Republic and the beginning of the Roman Empire under Caesar's grand-nephew and adopted son Octavian, later known as Caesar Augustus. Caesar's military campaigns are known in detail from his own written Commentaries (Commentarii), and many details of his life are recorded by later historians such as Suetonius, Plutarch, and Cassius Dio.
