2005-12-21 10:18 PM Appointments Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Achey Read/Post Comments (0) My Mom and I headed over to the hospital this afternoon for my two appointments. I always get there early so I can drink enough water to be able to do the pee in a cup test. That's getting harder and harder to do. While my bladder is getting smaller (and thus less pee comes out) it's also getting super hard to place the cup where it needs to be since there's a baby in the way. They should really allow women in the third trimester to just pee in a bucket. Anyway, my Mom and I chilled out in the nurse's lounge playing Sudoku while I drank a lot of water and some diet coke. It was nice that she was able to drive me there so that Rob didn't have to waste his lunch break on picking me up and getting me there. A little before 4:30 my Mom and I headed up to the doctor's office. Rob met us up there. Before meeting with the doctor I peed in a cup, got weighed (same as the last two appointments), and had my blood pressure taken (a bit high this time). The three of us then went into the room to meet with the doctor. I was measured and we heard his heartbeat. Very loud, fast, and strong. Unfortunately, he's still breech. I swear, I have more things conspiring against me for a c-section. I really want to do this birth naturally and vaginally, but I have so many things that could possibly lead to a c-section (if he's still breech, if I need to go on insulin, if he's too big because of the GD, if my asthma acts up, if I have the cold or a flu at the time of the birth, if at any point in the pregnancy I get pneumonia, if my heart issues flare up, etc.). Suck. I asked the doctor some questions and found out the following: I won't be allowed more than a day or two past my due date, because of the GD I'll be induced on or near my due date; it's normal for me to still have a nasty wound on my ass where the Rhogam shot was; and there's not a damn thing I can do about my restless legs which are causing me to get no sleep anymore. After the doctor's appointment we went to see Carmen, my doula. We had our second class with her and my Mom got to meet her (she really likes her). We went over a lot of things and I have a variety of breathing techniques to try out at home and see what will work best for me. So far, I really like the Tibetan Moaning. But, I'll try them all while holding ice and see what distracts me the best. From there we headed to Outback for dinner. Meat is good. I think I could eat steak every day during this pregnancy and be very happy. I like it, the baby likes it, and it's one of the few things I'm encouraged to eat on this damn GD diet. We then made a stop at the grocery store and headed home. ----------
