Pediatrician Appointment And Other Things

Mood:
A bit frazzled.

Saturday we tool Gabriel to see Dr. Nakashima because of the problem he had on Friday. Luckily, everything calmed down on Friday night and he didn't get dehydrated. He even wanted an extra feeding in the middle of the night. The pediatrician appointment went well. The doctor said that there's a bit of a stomach bug going around and he probably got some of that. Makes sense considering both Rob and I have been having some tummy problems as well. Gabriel is gaining weight now like he should and weighed in at 8 pounds, 1 ounce. So, the appointment went well, Gabriel is fine, and we have his one month check up next Saturday.

After the doctor appointment we came home for Gabriel's 1pm feeding, showered and got ready, waited for his 4pm feeding, and then headed out again. We made a run to Babies R Us for some formula, diapers, a new thermometer, and various other baby things we needed. We then came back to our area and made a stop at the drug store for my prescriptions.

Once again the drug store people proved to me why there is a Scarlet S in Sav-On. *sigh* I was at the pharmacy and while the person did manage to understand the concept of a last name beginning in B this time, she did not understand the concept of the number 2. She asked how many prescriptions I was there to pick up and I told her 2. She came back with a bag and I assumed there were both prescriptions in there. My bad to assume someone in the Sav-On pharmacy understood that 2 was not 1. When I got home there was only 1 there. So, Rob had to head back to the pharmacy later in the night while I stayed with Gabriel. We weren't about to take him out for a third time in the day.

I also made a pretty dumb move while in the drug store. Rob was carrying Gabriel in his car seat so I carried the basket in the store. There were some heavy things in it and I realized too late that it was over the weight limit I'm allowed to carry when my incision (both inside and out) started hurting like hell. I hope I didn't mess it up too badly. It still hurts today. Ugh.

Sunday we stayed in and did our clothing loads of laundry. Sheets and towels we'll try and fit in sometime on the weeknights and Gabriel pretty much has a load done every day. It never ends.

I have a newfound respect both for single parents and for stay at home Moms. Good lord, watching a baby is worse than a full time job. At least with a job you get lunch breaks and the weekends off. I'm lucky if I have five minutes in the afternoon to snarf down a nuke-a-meal. As it is today I was lucky enough to squeeze in lunch, but it was a lot less appetizing since it was right after a poopy explosion diaper change. Until we move out of Los Angeles I'll be taking time off and spending my days taking care of Gabriel. It's not easy (and going to work after this will probably be a snap), but I will admit it is very rewarding to be able to spend this time with my son. Even if I don't have a moment to myself and have to deal with explosive poopy diapers.

You Are 80% "Average American"
You are average because you live within three miles of McDonalds.

You are not average since you have (at least) a college degree.
