2008-11-04 1:24 PM I Voted Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Content Read/Post Comments (1) Gabriel is walking around the couch and randomly (though to him I doubt it's random) licking various areas of the couch. He is so weird sometimes. Rob came home for lunch today so that I could go and vote. He voted this morning on his way to work. This way, I could vote without toting a tantrum throwing two and a half year old with me. Plus, from what I've seen from voting before, they don't let kids in there anyway. I wanted to vote Green, and I would have had I still lived in California where Obama was assured a win. However, I live in a state where it's only leaning a bit towards Obama and I live in a very Republican county. So, even though I believe more in McKinny than I do in Obama or McCain, I voted for Obama because it would matter more in the area where I live. I also realistically know that McKinny will not win my state nor the election, so I wanted to vote for someone who had a chance. My vote for Obama was less of a vote for Obama and more of a vote against McCain and Palin. Especially Palin. She has all of the negative traits that people give examples of when they try to make an argument for why a woman should not hold a "man's" job. As someone who is going into a profession that is traditionally male and someone who wants to go into politics, I would hate to see a woman like her be the first one in the White House. I think that would give a very bad reputation to women in high offices. For the record, I'm not registered as any political party. If I could get a break in politics, I would probably be a member of the Democrat party based on most of my views. However, I didn't want to register here as a Democrat because I truly believe in voting for someone I believe in and the best person for the job and not just because someone is a Democrat. Though most of the time, I end up agreeing with the Democrat or Green parties and only rarely the Republicans. It's sad, but I don't care about this election as passionately as I cared about the other ones I voted in. I was super happy when Clinton won his two terms and very disappointed when Gore and Kerry lost to Bush. I'd like to see Obama win this election, but it's not with the same passion as I wanted Clinton, Gore, or Kerry to win. Honestly, I'm still in the Hillary camp and think the only good thing that would come out of a McCain win would be Clinton having a good chance in 2012. Many more good things would and could come out of an Obama win, and so, he got my vote. I hope Obama wins, but I won't be devastated if he doesn't. Just disappointed in this country for wanting 4 more years of Bush-like politics and for not seeing that Palin would be truly incompitent as a VP. What the hell is going on in California? Looks like all the bigots are out in force. *sigh* I thought California was supposed to be liberal? Come on people, there is nothing wrong with gay marriage. Get over it. Straight people are doing a great job of ruining the "sanctity" of marriage. Look at the divorce rate. Let those who love each other be married. While I'm not on the Obama boat like many others, I do see the possibility of him bringing hope to this country, and we desperately need that. I think he has the potential to make things better. If McCain wins, I'm scared to see what will become of the economy. And as someone who is looking for a job, the economy is very important to me right now. Wow, and all I wanted to do was mention I voted. There were no lines, I was in and out in five minutes and I was there during the lunch time. This time, I got a sticker! Yay! ----------
