A few weeks ago I noticed that Sydney seemed to be a bit off balance. I was worried that he had hurt one of his legs (he had knee surgery back when he was three years old and I thought his other one might be having problems). So, I checked him out and when I put him back on the ground he was fine.

Well, Saturday night his head was twitching. When this happened, he was off balance again. This happened on and off in short spurts of about 15-30 seconds each for about ten minutes. We watched him, knowing if it kept happening that we would be taking him in to the ER. He was fine once it stopped and seemed find Sunday and today. Still, he's sixteen and I don't want to take any chances.

So, I was able to get him in one of the emergency spots today at his regular vet's office. His regular vet is on vacation, so I saw someone else, but she was super knowledgeable and seemed to get along great with Sydney.

Since he was going to go in for his senior wellness check next month anyway, they did a blood panel and a urine test. I'll have the results of those tomorrow. Hopefully, those will come out just fine.

His diagnosis for today, however, was that he's having seizures. Seems you can have a seizure and not have it effect your whole body. That's another reason they wanted to do his check up today as well, to make sure nothing else is happening that would be making it worse.

Right now, I'm supposed to write down whenever he has the head twitching, balance problems, or even when his tongue is hanging out of his mouth (which I've seen happen as well). If these happen less often than once a month, he should be fine for now. If they happen more often, then they want to put him on an anti-seizure medication.

While this isn't a minor thing, at least it's not something huge or life threatening.
