I had a whole list of events with partners, employees and clients. After it was written I realized that if I was linked back to my company I could be fired for the things I had discussed. Since I do not (yet) want to lose my job, I've elected to self-censor. I have also realized that I pay an inordinate amount of attention to the pictures, window coverings and carpet in the meeting rooms. Possibly because I am bored out of my mind much of the time and have the attention span of a gnat. Books: Purple Cow, by Seth Godin. He was the keynote speaker at our opening luncheon and was wonderful. Very amusing approach to developing ideas and products that are truly remarkable. Had dinner with a co-worker tonight and we decided there is nothing that we're doing, either individually or as a company, that falls into this category. What is or has been remarkable? iPods, Hummers (no, not *that* kind), WalMart, FedEx, Disney World, camera phones, Janet Jackson's breast, Amazon's free shipping. What is not remarkable? All the junk mail you receive, most billboards (unless they contain Janet Jackson's breast), and just about all other advertising you're subjected to.
