Call for Submissions/Relief/Sonic

Submissions for Issue #2 of Chick Flicks Ezine open now through September 15!

Chick Flicks: an ezine that fills the void in publishing. We're looking for stories and essays that are moody, dark, real, gritty. You don't have to be a woman to submit to Chick Flicks, nor does your main character need to be a woman. Make us laugh, make us cry, make us hurt in the deepest, darkest parts of our souls. But most of all, be honest, raw, real. We prefer pieces of 1000 words or less, but we will consider longer works if queried first.

Click below for full submission guidelines and schedule. Subs open until Sept 15.

Chick Flicks

well, today hubby and i traveled two and a half hours to chapel hill to see what info we could find out on a friend's wife and step son who'd been badly burned in an apartment fire two weeks ago.

we had just called him the sunday before the fire to set up a dinner date with him and his wife for the following weekend. when monday rolled around, i saw a live report on the news about a woman and her son who had been burned in their apartment. we were floored to find out it was our friend's wife and stepson.

however, since all his belongings had been burned, he'd lost our number, and of course we could't get ahold of him, as his telephone is not working for obvious reasons.

we were both glad and relieved to see him looking fit and well, under the circumstances. they're keeping his wife and stepson medicated so they won't have to deal with the pain for now.

hopefully, they will both recover and can be brought home. and a special thanks to the ronald mcdonald house for all they do for patient's families.

ok, well back home i had a sonic drive-in on practically every corner and oh how i took them for granted.

when we moved here, no sonic. NO SONIC! oh my! what kind of stinkin conspiracy is that? it's those damn chick filet cows, that's who it is.

but we do have a sonic a town and a half over, so we loaded up the truck and drove twenty miles for dinner. oooooo, what is it about their pickles and onions coated in mustard? no other burger joint's tastes the same or nearly as good. yum!

hmmmm, i think i'll look into a franchise...hehe...

i hear the philly connection callin my name! "i'm coming, darlin'. see ya next week"
