I'm always slightly distressed at the wholesale slaughter of innocent trees for Christmas. I'd rather have a live one. What's always made it distressing is not just cutting down a tree -- I use as much paper as the next person -- but that it gets thrown into the landfill afterward. I just can't bring myself to do it. I suppose if I were in the woods and it was me or the pine tree I could see it. Maybe I'm just too traditional. In a decorate-the-tree-with-intestines sorta way. Hafta get up and do some writing in the morning, or else.
