2003-12-19 10:31 AM Production Assistant Training Program Previous Entry :: Next Entry I've just returned from a meeting with a recruiting person at Warner Bros. TV with regards to the PA training program. I wanted to see what it is, and if it would help me with my career.
The program is basically a two-year training program for people to get into the TV world, understand how productions work, and to network. The expectation is that by the end of the program, the individuals have moved on to other jobs in the TV world, which have included writing, directing, editing, producting, etc. You get to work with all types, you may (or may not) get to sit in the writers room, and you meet lots of people. The stated goal of the program is to get you to a future job that you want. While that's what I need, the program comes with some limitations. It is a basic gofer position with lots of driving, fetching, copying and filing. It only pays $475 per week for a 60-hour work week. There may or may not be benefits. The show may or may not be cancelled, and may also go on hiatus (which means a layoff and unemployment). However, the recruiter also suggested I look at regular PA positions as well, which pay more. It won't be what I'm making now, that's for certain, and there's still the 60-hour week, hiatus, etc. So, this option to advance my career is out there. I just don't know if it's the right option for me. Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
