Ondine She's got everything she needs, She's an artist, she don't look back. She's got everything she needs, She's an artist, she don't look back. She can take the dark out of the nighttime And paint the daytime black. --Bob Dylan 2005-09-06 10:00 AM Mr. Rogers Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (0) |
I keep The World According to Mr. Rogers by my potty and I read it every morning. Here is today's entry: "If the day ever came when we were able to accept ourselves and our children exactly as we and they are, then, I believe, we would have come very close to an ultimate understanding of what 'good' parenting means. It's part of being human to fall short of that total acceptance--and often far short. But one of the most important gifts a parent can give a child is the gift of accepting that child's uniqueness." This helped me so much with my frustration over Joe's recovery. I can't fix him, but I can accept where he is right now and listen to him. We went to breakfast before school, and he spent most of the time crying over Tor. I held his hand and let him just be. After, we went to school and he did not need me to walk to his class. I love you, Mr. Rogers. |
