Although I've watched the ending a few times and read other people's thoughts online all week, I've refrained thus far from writing about the ending to the Sopranos. No more.
All the speculation is just that - speculation Tony didn't get killed. I've heard a lot of theories about how the cut to black was him getting killed, and upon second and third looks, they don't pan out. I thought the ending would have been fine had Chase just panned out, but the cut that made people think their tvs were failing was a bitch move. I will slap you in public if need be, Chase. Other than that, the episode was fine. Phil got killed, Tony will likely be going to jail and both of his kids sold out. I viewed the end scene as representative of the paranoia that must accompany living in Tony's shoes. It would have been a fine series conclusion without that one shot. What I'm really here to talk about, though, is "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey. It's always been a sweet song, and now it's just that much cooler. Got played during the final scene of the Sopranos. F'n A. That's far better than when Peter and the gang sang it on Family Guy, or when Cartman was singing it to himself on South Park. The time is now for Steve Perry to make his grand comeback. Sure, he was the butt of jokes in BASEketball ("Steve Per-ry!" "Dude, no more Journey psyche-outs!"), but it's nothing he can't overcome (not if he keeps believing in himself, anyway). Steve Perry, I envy thee. Decades after Rodney Dangerfield danced to "Anyway you want it" while on a golf course, one of your tracks will again forever be synonymous with a great pop culture moment. Re-claim thyself, Steve Perry. The world is your oyster. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
