Drama Feature film 1973 French. Very French. Alas, I did not dig Last Tango in Paris. I may be committing movie heresy to say so, but this one falls under the "French" category for me. Marlon Brandow puts out an absolutely STELLAR performance, but I left the movie going "huh?". In a nutshell, Marlon's character can't cope with his wife's suicide. He meets a young woman who's having trouble coping with her fiancee, and they embark on a stormy, sexual relationship of denial. And in the end, she kills him. I was with them, right up until that point. I got the emotional roller coaster, the healing, the falling in love and pretty much got the power play between them. I just didn't see why he had to bite the bullet. Absolutely well-acted, and undeniably a classic, but a bit esoteric as well. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
