Drama Feature film 2003 I was most surprised to see Bruckheimer's company had produced Veronica Guerin. I usually associate Bruckheimer with movies where you don't wear earplugs at your own risk. However, Veronica Guerin does not fall into that category. Based on a true story, it tells the story of an unstoppable Irish reporter who dared to take on the drug lords of Dublin. She paid for her persistence with her life, but because of her popularity and personality, her murder was avenged by overthrowing the man she targeted as at the heart of the drug trade. That makes it a bittersweet story, but quite watchable. While you can't gainsay her impact, I do wonder at the portrayed tactics of confronting her targets head-on, accusing them of drug trafficking to their faces, and asking for a quote. I haven't looked into the original story, but it certainly made for interesting drama. Oh, and I've seen Colin Farrell listed as a co-star. He's certainly in the movie, and even with a 3-day old beard he's quite watchable, but his credit is "Tattooed boy" and he has all of about 4 minutes of screen time.
