Drama Miniseries 2001 I don't subscribe to HBO, so I'm just getting around to watching Band of Brothers. It was worth the wait. Band of Brothers follows the 101st airborne, specifically E (Easy) company, from paratrooper training through to the end of WWII. They landed in Europe on D-day and ended the war at the Eagle's Nest in Germany. Band of Brothers suffers a bit from the same malady as all war movies do -- it's difficult to tell the actors apart, unless they're really, really distinct. It's a curse of everyone being dirty, bloody and dressed in the same outfit. However, there was just enough difference in facial structure/height/weight to keep the main characters apart. At its heart, Band of Brothers is a character drama and not a war story. Yes, there's plenty of shooting, running, fighting, exploding trees, dying, and severed limbs. But it's really about the men of Easy Company and the bond they forged together through the rigors of war. The running, fighting, and dying is placed in the context of the men and not used gratuitously. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
