Into the Autumn We Go

Shenanchie’s Kitchen has been updated for the autumn season, and the new cookbook is now officially available for purchase. To order your copy, or to obtain more information about the cookbook, please click here.

Below is a list of the other changes and new features at Shenanchie’s Kitchen for this go-around:

SITE CHANGES >>> The main page of Shenanchie's Kitchen has been changed to reflect the design continuance of the rest of the site. I received several comments from readers about the slow-loading time of the old design, so I felt it was time to rectify the problem.

The Diabetic and Vegan recipe pages have been eliminated. I decided to forego these recipes as part of Shenanchie's Kitchen to narrow down maintenance on the pages, as well as the time-consuming experimentation for new recipes in these categories.

FOOD ARTICLES >>> After many requests by readers, I have reinstated the original articles about Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales that first appeared on Savorys by Shenanchie a few years ago. Click the link of you choice below to read the featured articles:

NEW RECIPES >>> Several new recipes have been added with the autumn update, in all categories. Browse the list below:

Ireland: Creamed Cabbage, Creamy Irish Delight, Guinness & Potato Soup, Irish Coffee Pudding, Tea Brack, and Uaineoil Faoi Chrusta (Crusted Roast Lamb).

Scotland: Aberdeen Toast, Bonnie Prince Charlie, Cock-A-Leekie Soup, Galantine, Scottish Rusts, Tatties & Neeps, and Tripe & Onions.

Wales: Bara Ceirch (Savory Oatcakes), Cawl Cynhaeaf (Harvest Broth), Stwnsh Rwdan A Iau (Turnip Mash with Liver), Teisennau Aberffro (Aberffraw Cakes), Welsh Tarts, and Wyau Sir Fôn (Anglesey Eggs).

Foofer Food (Canine): Autumn Cinnamon Snaps, Canine Casserole, Easy-on-the-Tummy Casserole, Instant Dog Biscuits, and Luncheon of Lamb.

Herbs & Spices: Bouquet Garni, Herbed Toast Mix, Horseradish Blend, Italian Dressing Mix, Melba Toast Blend, No-Salt Chicken Herbs, Popcorn Seasoning, Rice Seasoning, and Winter Herbs.

Miscellaneous: (Containing recipes that are often used as ingredients with various traditional dishes at Shenanchie's Kitchen, such as basic stocks, sauces and condiments). New: Bloater Paste and Drambuie.

WIN A FREE COPY OF THE COOKBOOK:

As mentioned, the first cookbook from Shenanchie's Kitchen is now available. If you would like to win a free copy of the cookbook CD, click here to enter the drawing.

A name will be drawn at random on November 1, 2004 to determine the winner. The lucky recipient will be notified by e-mail and then receive the cookbook CD via postal mail, absolutely free. There are no strings attached, and none of the information submitted when entering the drawing will be used for any other purpose than the contest. However, the drawing is limited to residents of the United States only because of international postage rates.

The “Food Notes” newsletter from Shenanchie’s Kitchen will also go out this Friday, but that about wraps it up for another season…
