I forget about the attractiveness of freeway access in this city. That it's completely flat, layed out like a grid, and gets fuzzy reception of the college radio stations due to its lower elevation is another story. I really can't understand why people WANT to live here besides it being cheap for the East side, oh yeah and the freeway right there.
When I told a mom from preschool that we had moved here from the Heights, where my husband and I both grew up, her reply was something to the effect of, "family is important here...we're not materialistic." Right. You're not materialistic because this city has no shopping and restaurants! You are also not materialistic because everyone hops on the freeway to shop and eat instead of using the few main, perpendicular streets, so there is little opportunity to be seen in a nice car. This town votes Democrat too. I respect that. But while everyone spends their money in the neighboring Republican towns, this city, Euclid, cries poor. Regulation and legislation redistribute wealth. I'd like to see what would happen if Euclid turned its freeways into turnpikes. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
