Lloyd at 2, in little burgundy sweatpants, a royal blue turtleneck, and hair getting fluffy again was bursting with energy early in our visit. I let him wild in the rainforest where he invented a way to run with excitement--it involved him kicking his own rear--while not getting too far ahead of us. He was so tiny in such a big place, like I used to feel when I dropped Rachel off for all-day kindergarten. He did manage to get his head stuck between the bars at the thunderstorm exhibit. It was dark and loud and I thought he was being himself: hung up on something he found interesting below the actual display. No sooner did I realize those bars were perfectly spaced to fit Lloyd's head did I see him struggling to get loose. Luckily, it was over quickly and he was on his way someplace else.

After lunch is when he began throwing himself on the floor, getting frustrated when his bag of goldfish (a mere prop at this point) weren't in his grip, and wanting up, then down, then mama, etc. Both boys slept on the way home as anticipated.

It was Lloyd's second trip to the zoo. In the evening, he practiced what the orangutan had taught him, which was to pick your nose and eat it. "It's salty!" He exclaimed. Thankfully the BIG fish and sea otters were his favorites.
