February 8, 2005 To the Editors, David Stockman, President Reagan's first budget director and architect of "trickle down economics", wrote in his auto-biography that the real agenda of Reagan conservatives was to create a budget debt so large that we would be forced to cut domestic programs. Uber-conservative Grover Norquist, President of Americans for Tax Reform, has said that "My goal is to cut government in half in twenty-five years, to get it down to the size where we can drown it in the bathtub." Today President Bush released a budget which attempts to address the deficit by cutting domestic programs. Some conservatives assert that the USA is a Christian nation.
