A letter to the editor re: the recently released Bush plan to cut domestic programs to help cut the deficit.

February 8, 2005

To the Editors,

David Stockman, President Reagan's first budget director and architect of "trickle down economics", wrote in his auto-biography that the real agenda of Reagan conservatives was to create a budget debt so large that we would be forced to cut domestic programs.

Uber-conservative Grover Norquist, President of Americans for Tax Reform, has said that "My goal is to cut government in half in twenty-five years, to get it down to the size where we can drown it in the bathtub."

Today President Bush released a budget which attempts to address the deficit by cutting domestic programs.

Some conservatives assert that the USA is a Christian nation. If that is true, it is becoming so in name only under control of our religious right.
