Christine's New Chapter
Never look down...

DEMON SOUL was released in MARCH, 2011 by Crescent Moon Press. DEMON HUNT will most likely be released 2012. This, then, is my new reality! The tumor has been removed and I'm recovering, so now it's all about the writing...and dealing with the writing.

We Have Potato!

Yeah...currently only one, plus one about the size of my pinkie finger. But, woo! They really ARE growing potatoes under there!

Our apple tree is also weighed down with fruit. Our orange trees, lemon tree, lime tree, and grapefruit tree all have fruit set, as well. In saying this, I'm jeopardizing my entire crop - only one of the orange trees is of any size, and the lime tree has thrips which I've got to go out and take care of shortly. Ugh. However...the garden is bearing. Life is good. (Have I mentioned the tomatoes? They're doing REALLY well!)

Today was the LARA meeting - all went well. Things seem to have calmed down over the graphical standards at RWA - they've suspended the standards and have put an ad-hoc committee in place to work out the details.

Also, we had Susan Squires and her husband talk to us about asking the correct questions when you write, so your cerebral cortex can answer them. (It's a long story. But not that long. Apparently, we have three brains. The stem brain, at the top of the spine, which is our reptile brain - 500 million years old - tells us to eat, sleep, wake up, breathe, etc. Then there's our mid-brain, which is about 200 million years old. This is where the fight or flight reflex comes in. And THEN comes the cerebral cortex; that part is only about 50,000 years old. THAT's the part that answers the tough questions (like, why?). Fear resides in our midbrain. Our cortex is too busy to deal with fear; it prefers the why questions.) It all fit in very well with the Carolyn Greene Plot Doctor stuff.

At any rate...it was a VERY interesting talk, and of course I had to buy her book (her husband has one out too, but I can't remember his pseudonym - his real name is Harry Squires - it's a mystery. The book, I mean.). And then of course I had to pick up the Desires I haven't read. Boom, there went $30 that I don't have. Sigh.

So, I'm ready to write again. I've even got a novel all plotted out, so perhaps on Monday - depending upon the schedule and whether or not I'm here or at B&N because of the car - perhaps I'll start the next one. Because it's past time. I'm getting antsy not writing.

Signed up the kids for soccer for the Fall season, and got suckered into volunteering to be on the board of directors. Don't ask me why - I'm not sure. But I think it has something to do with RWA and my local chapter, and wanting to see how other organizations run things. Just to compare. And if it doesn't work out, I can always back away.

Right? Right???
