Yesterday, hubby built me a gate for my vegetable garden. A gate, moreover, that I can open and close with one hand, and that dogs will have a very, very difficult time getting through.

It took him the better part of an entire day to build that gate. The rest of us helped, and weeded, and did other yard chores to keep him from feeling martyred.

I think it worked.

Today was filled with writing and rewriting and synopsizing (one five page, and one one-page, on different novels). And sending out to two more contests. I think it's a worth-while exercise, though, considering I think I have a couple worth-while products. We'll see.

Younger son kicked ass in the getting-the-bathroom-ready-for-painting department. Tomorrow he will finish the prep part of kicking ass. Painting is reserved for Thursday.

And tonight, as I watered the roses, we had a small fire going outside with old christmas tree. The sunset, the scent of firesmoke and pine, and the scent of freshly watered earth all combined to give me a moment of piercing happiness.

I love my life. Dust bunnies and cottage cheese ceiling and wayward but loveable children and all.
