So - I was at my previous place of employment, dropping by to see friends. The manager there was outside on a lunch break and I spoke to her a bit before leaving. Her mom's dying and I wanted to know how she's doing.

After some chitchat, she tells me that she has to hire three part time people, and if I want it, one of those jobs was mine. An almost guaranteed 15 - 20 hours a week.

Gadzooks.

I probably won't start until mid-august (after vacation) - heck, I won't even do the paperwork until late July. But that money plus what I've got coming in monthly from my inheritance will cover mortgage, old debt, and some groceries. Hubby covers the rest so far.

As long as I don't care too much about the job, and put my writing first, then - deep breath - this may be the way to go. If California starts sending those of us on unemployment IOUs instead of checks, I'd really be up a creek - so at this point, even though it's less money, I'll take it.

Sigh.
