Christine's New Chapter
Never look down...

DEMON SOUL was released in MARCH, 2011 by Crescent Moon Press. DEMON HUNT will most likely be released 2012. This, then, is my new reality! The tumor has been removed and I'm recovering, so now it's all about the writing...and dealing with the writing.

Garden update

It may be May by the calendar, but by the look of my garden, it's still late March. With all the cloudy and cool weather we've been having, my plants haven't done their typical overnight two-foot growth spurt. Some heat is needed, but we're not likely to see any this week.

Of the seeds I planted three weeks or so ago, only the canteloupe didn't come up - seeds were too old (2004, lol!). I've got pole beans and sugar peas growing, and also some burgess buttercup squash, yay! This past Sunday I added to the nursery with beet seeds and swiss chard seeds. If everything grows, I'm going to start digging up the middle of the garden and planting there, leaving just a narrow walking path on either side.

The volunteer cherry tomato plant from last year is huge. It planted itself by the garden gate. I noticed it in November, I think, and decided to let it grow. Now it's about two feet deep, three feet wide and almost as tall, and has tons of fruit on it. Just waiting for those babies to ripen!

I need to harvest all the onions before the seed heads bolt. I have too many (and they're too small) to keep, so the neighbors will get some bounty. This will also free up a bed to plant seedlings in...

The zucchini are coming along nicely. Should be able to start picking in a couple of weeks. If the past is any indication, once I start picking the zucchini, I'll have more coming all the way through October.

The large orange tree in the back yard has fruit on it, and they're actually turning orange! Bigger than a baseball. We'll see how tasty they are - if not good for straight eating, at least they'll be juice-worthy. Must find time to hack back the darn morning glory. Wish I'd listened to my dad about that weed before I planted it.

The lemon tree in the front has fruited nicely, as has the tangerine and grapefruit trees. The lime tree in the back is hanging onto it's limes for once, and this is a good thing. I think, too, that we'll have boysenberries from two different bushes this year. If I ever get my act together and properly train the bushes, I might even grow enough to make a couple of pies, or perhaps some jam. I loves me my home made boysenberry jam!

Last but never least, my rose garden is in gorgeous bloom. I have roses all over the house, and still there are tons left. The beds are a mess - weedy and such - but this is the best year for the roses in a long time.

Watering is good.
