When I got home from work last night, the hubby was reeling with tired and the son was as well. Usually they're both in bed - but last night they spent time cutting out the damp carpet, hauling it and the pad beneath it to the trash, and then scraping up old (30+ years) carpet tile and tossing it.

Upshot - I still need to swab the deck with bleach, but the mold is pretty much gone. It will take a massive effort to get the rest of the stuff out of my office in order to take the rest of the carpet up - young son said I'd get to it in two weeks. Husband said two years. I'm thinking, yeah, both of those are about right, lol!

I'm pinching pennies right now though, so replacing the old flooring with new is not really feasible.

However; I have my work space back, or at least I will once I uncover my desk from the layer of books on it.

I'm so happy, I think I'll go take a morning nap!
