She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward

This is just not going as planned

The year I turned 30, I got my first cavity. At 35, I came down with chicken pox. So I’ve kind of been worried about 40 and what childhood disease it might bring. Croup, anyone?

This just isn’t funny anymore.

After another sleepless night of excruciating pain, I broke down and went to the emergency room this morning. I really didn’t want to go the heavy drug route, but I’d exhausted all other options. (I would’ve tried the chiropractor one more time, but she’s only open MWF. What is that about chiros? My one at home is the same.)

Two and a half hours later, I’ve had a shot in the hip (for pain. It didn’t help) and prescriptions for Darvocet (pain) and Flexieril (to make the muscles stop spasming). Okay, I think. At least it’ll stop hurting.

Seven hours later, and I don’t feel any different. Three pain pills and one muscle relaxant just made me groggy and loopy enough to get some sleep. I guess all I can hope is that I keep taking the pills and eventually they’ll start working.

I’ve e-mailed to cancel the workshop this weekend. I’m pretty sure the B&B we were going to be in tonight won’t refund our money (even though Ken told them I was in the hospital this morning). Don’t know about the first B&B. Oh well. Ken keeps reminding me that I’m more important. It just makes me angry and frustrated.

Right. Well. I have to type standing up, and I’m feeling a need to lie down, so I’m off. Just wanted to update ya’ll. Thanks for all the well wishes. Please send positive healing energy my way if you can spare any. I’m blessed to have such wonderful friends.

Oh, and because some of you asked: It’s very probably sciatica, but I didn’t get an official diagnosis at the emergency room. I’ll go to my own chiro and doctor when I get home for confirmation.
