2004-04-16 11:48 AM STML Previous Entry :: Next Entry STMLEven though we blew it last week, we’ll try again to tell you what’s hot and what’s not at the movie box office this weekend. The number one movie this weekend will be…. 1. “Kill Bill Vol. 2” The second of Quentin Tarentino’s crime drama’s (which was one movie sliced in two by Harvey Weinstein at Miramax) has gotten good reviews and “Vol. 1” just sold a record number of DVD’s on it’s first day of release. And the rest will be… 2. “Johnson Family Vacation” a strong showing last week went right under our radar. A sort of “National Lampoon’s Vacation” remake with Cedric The Entertainer has gotten good word of mouth. 3. “The Alamo” the Disney remake doesn’t seem to be luring big crowds but it should finish well this week. 4. “The Passion of The Christ” Mel Gibson’s version of biblical history keeps coming back from the undead of the lower depths of the top ten.. 5. “ Connie and Carla” “New” comedy from “My Big Fat Greek Wedding’s” Nia Vardalos is really a remake of “Some Like It Hot” with women dragging it up as women. Every buddy loves drag, right? 6. “Hellboy” Supposedly one of the most difficult characters to adapt to the big screen has made the transfer brilliantly and everyone seems to love this guy. 7. “The Punisher” Seems like it would be one of the easiest superheroes to adapt to the screen but this has gotten awful notices and has that big can of chunky soup, John Travolta, as the bad guy. I remember the last time Travolta played a bad guy in “Battlefield Earth”, oh my goodness, what was Marvel thinking here? 8. “Ella Enchanted” Eric Idle narrates a charmer about a princess who vows to be good. 9. “The Girl Next Door” Good girl is confused with Porn star by hapless next door neighbor, hey, it’s a movie. 10. “The Whole Ten Yards” It’s that hump Bruce Willis again.
