2004-05-04 9:37 PM kitty surprise Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (3) Well, the cats are getting along surprisingly well at this point. We brought Ciddy over Thursday night, and the there was much hissing and growling and hiding under the futon. Whenever she came out, Wheaten was never less than 2 feet away from her, because he was terribly curious, and I'm sure this made Ciddy terribly uncomfortable. It was funny--she would hiss constantly when she was moving, which was as good as an alarm to let the little boy know she was moving, and where she was going. If she had just been quiet...
Well, Friday I had to work down at the bar and Sean came with me, so it was the first time the cats were completely alone in the house. And when we came home, everyone came to greet us at the door, with a minimum of hissing. Apparently everyone's need to be petted overcame the need to avoid each other (or, as Sean thinks, some tremendous breakthrough occurred while we were gone). And it's only gotten better from there. The one we need to feel bad for now is Wheaten, as now he has two female cats hissing at him when they don't want to play. But everyone has touched noses, everyone is eating each other's food (except Sierra, who still only eats her own), and everyone seems to be using the same litterbox (sigh) which is the only one Sierra will use, and she's the one who's touchy about having a clean litterbox. Ah well. So things with the cats are amazingly amicable. I think it helps that Ciddy was the most dominant and aggressive cat of the three, and that she's the one with the most adjusting to do. Sean has found all three cats stretched out upstairs sleeping on more than one occasion (in different corners of the room, but still). And so it goes. More later.
