2006-04-07 6:53 AM the favorite I was sparkd by a comment Rando made yesterday, about the roster..the place each person has in this world..kids especially.
I can't count how many times I've been asked "Who's your favorite kid?" Most often this is asked by the kids themselves. How do ya answer such a question? My stock answer of course is: " Why you are honey." No matter which kid is asking the question. The truth is, each is my favorite at any given moment. It all depends on the moment, the circumstance and the mood. When CC was a little boy, he would knock on the door. As I opened it, there he would be, shuffling his feet, holding a boquet of dandelions he had picked from the front lawn. He was my favorite. The first time FF fixed breakfast in bed for me on Mother's day...13 eggs, burnt toast, coffee thick enough to use for paint...she was my favorite. The time I spanked SS for some youthful discretion..and he turned to me with tears in his eyes, said: "I'm sorry Ma..I love you." He was my favorite. I walked in from a long day at work to find the living room spotless and dirty dishes absent from the kitchen sink. JJ announced proudly that she had done it. She was my favorite. BB presented me with a lacy paper valentine she had made in Kindergarten..."all by myself." She was my favorite. There have been hundreds of such incidents over the years...how could I not have a favorite? Read Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
