I'm 25.

The prom was fun.

I always imagined my senior prom as being this huge, frilly, high class event in which everyone sat in their flawless dresses sipping punch. The truth was, the prom was more like an oridinary every day thing than some rare occurance. I was with my best friends, the food was good, we danced and had a good time. Part of it was that I knew I was never going to get this opportunity again so it was more of an incentive to get out on the dance floor. There were a couple slow dances, and they were not as mortifying as I thought they would be, and after the first once I was so comfortable with it. We stayed for four hours, but it felt like it has only been ten minutes, and when we were back in the limo going home, we were all saying, "That was it?" But it was in a good way, not in a disappointed one...I don't know.

I guess we could have gotten really drunk and stumbled around and tried to make out with our dates, but we didn't, we just had fun, and it sounds really stupid and nerdy and wholesome but I guess that's what it was.

We drove to the shore that night and got theree around 3 in the morning. We got to sleep at around 5 and I only slept for about 4 hours. The shore is really creepy when it's not summer and 100 degrees. It's deserted and there isn't much to do, and creepy people run the boardwalk and yell things at you to try and get you to play their sleazy games. There were two attractive men, one who worked at the place where Amanda bought a nipple ring and the other worked at a balloon-popping stand. Mmmm. We didn't do much except drive around, but it was just so much fun. Normally driving around sucks, but we had a great little dynamic group. There was Julia, who was driing and had good directional sense, and was horny; there was Amanda, the daring, edgy rocker chick, there was Allison, the squeaky naive one, and me, the comic relief. We got along well with each other, and Amanda got a tatoo and we talked about a lot of things and it was merry. We went to bed early that night but none of us slept well at all, and the next day we went to Six Flags because roller coasters kick ass.

Today is Monday and I have gotten no sleep. We were probably the only people who didn't drink this weekend, but I don't care because it really kicked ass without the influence of alcohol. And spring break is coming soon anyway. I thought this would be a shitty experience, that I wasn't cut out for prom, but it wasn't, and that makes me happy.
