2006-11-02 11:19 PM It's not the fault of the tobacco company if you smoke. I am a nonsmoker. I definitely approve of smoking being banned in public places since it is a dirty unhealthy habit for those who partake in it as well as those who are forced to breathe it. However, I do not see why people are so avidly against tobacco companies, claiming that they target young people. Really? It's called advertising. Kind of like Coors Light is aimed towards fat middle aged balding men who watch football and Lean Cuisine is aimed at psuedo healthy moms who can only spare four minutes of their day to microwave a glorified TV dinner. People are so stupid. Suing a tobacco company for getting sick is like suing a brewery for getting drunk. You know what you were doing the whole time. Why can't people just sit back and say, "Gee. There's a warning label on every carton of cigarettes. If I smoke this, my teeth will turn yellow, my breath will smell, my lungs will blacken, and my capillaries will constrict, putting me at risk for a stroke and/or heart attack." I most likely come across as a snobby little know it all punk, and maybe I am, but people need to wake up and smell the soy milk. Tobacco companies are a legitimate establishment and instead of wasting time and effort campaigning against them, why don't you just not buy a pack of cigarettes, and leave those who wish to smoke alone? If you're going to smoke, fine, but don't bitch about it when you need a lung transplant.
