Mood: Sleepy yet busy |
2002-10-16 12:14 PM Staying awake is so hard to do... Hey folks! How's it going? Just wanted to do a quick journal update here on my lunch break. Yep, I'm doing the 9 to 5 thing again. But only for a couple-three weeks or so.
And boy is it rough. Good thing there's coffee and Diet Coke. Otherwise I'd be screwed. I'm back at the company I worked for 2 years ago, Tech Resource Group, a training/help desk/information development company. It's actually nice to be back here, though most of the folks I once worked with are gone. There are some of the original crew left, which made yesterday not feel like a first day on the job. I have an interesting project to work on, and I'm already knee-deep in the writing. No complaints, especially since it's for less than a month and the pay is quite good. So yeah, I sold out!!! But only for a while. Meanwhile, my various writing projects are getting back-burnered, which really bites. I was planning on having the SF novel drafted out by this time, but it just didn't happen. But thanks to feedback from my friend Scott and some other folks, I have a really good idea of how the novel's gonna end. Always a good thing. I just need a good chunk of time to finish things up. And then tomorrow we're off to Ocracoke for a quick tour of the islands -- both Ocracoke and Portsmouth. I'll be taking lots of photos so I have good material for the romance/horror/supernatural novel I'll be working on with Lizzie. I may end up writing this novel in conjunction with NaNoWriMo, the novel-in-a-month contest that I failed miserably at last year (but got a novella and a short story out of, and possibly a novel!). We shall see. It all depends on how things play out in this madhouse I call my life. A two-day break is gonna be nice, even if we'll end up spending about half of it traveling by car and ferry. But Lizzie and I plan on hashing out all the details for the THREE novels in the romance series we're planning (yes, a trilogy!), and it'll be great just hanging out together with no homework or writing or laptops or anything else. And it'll be nice to skip a day on the ol' paper route -- I've got a sub doing the route on Friday for me. Woo-hoo! Things got a bit sticky this morning, as I had my 250 regular papers to deliver, along with over 400 of these cursed mini-papers called Midweeks to deliver, and my drivers-side window refused to roll down. So I'm delivering papers from the rear window and tossing papers out the passenger-side window. Guess I'll have to get that fixed, eh? Sheesh. What next? But it's all good. I'm on vacation in about 5 hours. LATER! Discuss Selling Out and Other Sins... Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
