So this week has felt like one big interuption. I've done next to nothing at uss, since every damn mac (and 1 pc) went screwy. I blame my boss's karma. I think we are mostly back up, but I still have no working monitor. But other than that, I've been working on...

Project: Various TESM items
Patron: Zetaweb
Medium: Illustrator 10
Status: done?
Deadline: passed
These were just a few little eps's that DS wanted and I finally got a chance to complete. This included a working file of the extended cross and a small wordmark for those cramped graphic spaces. I still owe trinity either a working crest or a new logo based on the cross. The crest is something I happen to like, since most schools have crests. You don't have to use it except as a watermark, right? Well, Trinity is moving away from the crest. So, I've now got the challenge to design a logo that can actually be used as a watermark successfully. Maybe the answer is to design a new crest that has the cross inserted as one of the elements. That might solve it...hrm..*ping!* (I hope you all heard that)

Project: Teem Brochure for August Term
Patron: Trinity
Medium: QuarkXpress 5.0
Status: Draft 1.0
Deadline: First week of May

Teem has asked me back to wrap up the second edition of their summer brochure. I'm borrowing a lot from the June term one, since these things technically go together. Mainly I'm taking the same color palette and inversing it. What is nice about this is that we are in time to get in as an insert to Seed and Harvest, which will save cash on the mailing end of it. Since I'm able to work with a saddle stitch in this project, I'm working on doing some interesting folding to try and highlight the brochure within the periodical.
As for the June Brochure, it turned out very well I think. I was quite happy with it, considering we did it in about 4 days total. The difficulty here is that I will only be working on this project one day a week, so I don't actcually have that much time.

Project: Logo
Patron: Zeta
Medium: Illustrator 10
Status: Draft 4.0
Deadline: asap

Went through another critique with CW on Tuesday. We had some good feedback, so I just need to work out a few more examples from what we talked about. Mainly we are trying to convert the current logo (which has changed from this entry) into a block or circle form, so that it will read well at 100px or 400px. I also started kicking around a layout idea, so that once the logo is finished, we can step right into the website and business cards. Colors are still giving me trouble, but as long as its a dark enough value I don't really care what color it is.

Other than that, I've made the decision to get on. I don't really know what that means, but I expect that I will start searching for a real, honest to god, design position, that will probably be full time. Maybe. I've at least allocated 2 hours a week where I can sit and think if that is what I need to do.
