I don't know if it's just this general area, but many people (adults) costume for Hallowe'en.
I recall one year when one of my (college) students was in my office. I think that was the first time I had an extended conversation with a sunflower. Another year I had happened to be in Sam's the night before and spotted huge bags of candy, cheap. I bought a couple and handed them out to my classes--after class was over. Since I was teaching at 8 AM and 9 AM, for some I'm sure that was breakfast. When I went out today I wore a bright orangeish coral shirt and a black jacket. (I also wore slacks.) (and shoes.) I saw quite a few others in similar colors. And when I went to PJ's most of the staff were fully costumed. Today was literacy student day and when we'd finished the reality of being back on "standard" time hit. It was fully dark, and it was just 6 PM. The cats were confused--usually they get fed before it's dark. I've tried to explain Daylight Savings Time to them, but they don't really "get" it. It's dark, therefore they should have been fed. Period. End of discussion. So tomorrow starts November. And "holiday" season. Between the shorter daylight hours and the holidays I usually get a good case of the blahs. I'll have to make a special point of spending more time outside, during the daylight. Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
