The cops didn't come to check out emergency alarms today in our building.

On Tuesday I didn't get the code and command in quickly enough and two of them showed up. Yesterday something the archivist was doing with the brand new personal codes a couple of us got brought one cop over.

Today, however, everything worked just fine and nobody messed up.

My work carrel is situated such that I just have to lean a little bit to my right to have a look at anybody coming into the library. And there was a lot of in and out today.

I now have five archival boxes all finished and ready to be put wherever they are supposed to go. They will no doubt be gone by Monday, the next time I work.

I've moved on to a preliminary inventory of a set of three boxes of papers of a very politically-active woman. Along the way I'm picking up quite a bit of Louisiana history from the eight years between our first and current LA residence. When we lived here in the sixties I was quite active in League of Women Voters--even serving as president at one time. Today I ran across the name of the woman who was state president at that time. Once when we were talking I noticed she was wearing a miniature quill pin--and that told me she'd been in the same sorority as me. Funny how you run into commonalities between people from widely divergent backgrounds.

Weather today was basically yuck--cold and showery. Tomorrow will be more of the same. Weather seems to have about five-day cycles here, so this time next week should be pretty good.

I was talking to my neighbor this evening--we arrived home almost simultaneously. She said that BadCat had been over there and met her cats, and it was a very friendly encounter. BadCat had been there a bunch before they moved in, so I imagine some of her smells were there already.

Tomorrow, when I can sleep a bit later, I will no doubt wake up at some ridiculously early hour.
That's okay, because there should be nothing to keep me from taking a nap a bit later.
