No, it's not the end of my roughly a dozen boxes, but I think I'm about done with the Louisiana Women's Network. And it looks like I'll have it all in one carton. The LWN was primarily a lobbying group for, of course, women and family issues. In the mid-80s they were trying to get through a more up-to-date set of definitions for marriage issues.

For example, a married woman's domicile was ALWAYS her husband's home. And he was considered head and master. I will never forget having to have my husband sign when I sold some stock I had purchased before marriage. That was in the sixties, when we were living in Louisiana.

But there was also the matter of child support in divorce cases. The law previously said it would end at 18. But not every kid is out of high school by then, so it got reworded to carry child support through high school graduation or 19--whichever came first.

The remaining cartons consist of four for Mary Landrieu's various campaigns and several others of assorted miscellany. First Mary was in the state legislature, then she was state Treasurer, followed by Lieutenant Governor, I think. At any rate, now she's in the U. S. Senate. Her brother Mitch (she's one of seven children) is now Lieutenant Governor. He was recently defeated when he ran for Mayor of New Orleans.

Who knows what will happen with the Governor's race! Blanco is not running for re-election, leaving the field wide open. Mitch might make a run for it, as would a bunch of others. My current Congressional representative (Bobbie Jindal) has already announced. (That's the one whose wife was a student of mine when I taught at Tulane.)

Louisiana politics are always convoluted--and always interesting.

Yesterday's "hiking" left me a bit sore today, but it's working its way out. I just had to make sure I didn't stay in one position for too long but kept moving around.

Working again tomorrow--Friday the place will be pretty well closed up. The same goes for Monday.

And I finished Corrupts Absolutely.
