My car is almost dried out. Luckily I had not yet disposed of the old newspapers all neatly bagged up in the back of the car, so it was quite easy to use them for soaking up moisture from the rugs.

This afternoon I took the soggy papers and added them to the pool. A turtle came to look at what I was doing. The five surplus phone books I pitched in there the other day are no longer visible.

I ended up going to PJ's in the afternoon to be around people. I was at home all day yesterday, and although I did grocery shopping this morning, I felt I needed to be around people.

There was a very interesting woman there who has almost no short term memory, courtesy of a very high fever. She's worked out lots of good coping mechanisms, beginning with writing everything down.

After she left I got some more reading done about gender. I'm currently going throuhg Peggy Sanday's Beyond the Second Sex, which is a collection of essays by various anthropologists. It's interesting and thought provoking.

Weather is definitely warming up around here--I'm using the "cool" function on my window unit now. (For the past month or so I used just the fan to stir up the air.)

And another unremarkable day is nearing an end.
