Humberto's edge came through today. It hadn't started raining when I got to work, but by 11 AM it was doing a good job of it. I kept watching the water level in the street in front of the Center. I was VERY glad that I had gotten up early so that I could get a prime parking spot on the high side of the street, AND close to the building. (I was parked on the low side, by the curb, once during a torrential downpour. That was when some water got into my car through the doors, but not in the engine or anything else vital under the hood.)

A little after noon it started raining really seriously and I went to check the weather radar. There was a long green and yellow streak moving steadily along my path to home. The street water hadn't reached my tires, but the cars parked by the curb were hubcap (or where a hubcap would be) deep.

About 2 PM I looked at the weather radar again, saw that the water level in the street was not going down, said "so long" to Bea (librarian) and rolled up my slacks to just below the knees.

I waded carefully through water that dampened the rolled up slacks. The cane is really handy when you're walking on a street full of holes, etc. which are covered by the water. Made it to my car just fine and headed on home.

It's beginning to clear off now and tomorrow should be beautiful.

When I got home Little Cat (Lady) was outside to greet me. She made a couple of comments about the lack of dry food outside, but I reminded her that there was always plenty inside. (But I must remember to put out the dog biscuits again this evening. Lady isn't interested in them, but the raccoon(s) and possum are.)

And so another has gone by--as has another bit of tropical weather.
