As one gets older and the kids have their own families--and extended families--it takes some serious scheduling to juggle families. This was not a problem for me, since both my husband and I are only children, and we seldom lived within commuting distance of relatives.
This is not the case with my kids, especially YD who married a man with five (three of them fully grown) kids. Two of those are now married and between them have produced five grandchildren. So, today was the day for that side of the family for YD. But she started it with breakfst out with me. We'd sort of planned on I-HOP but it wasn't open, so we headed for the Waffle House down by where WalMart used to be. We ran into someone she knows from work and chatted with them a bit while we waited. The food was good. (It always is when OPC is the chief ingredient.) After stuffing ourselves, she dropped me back home, and I relaxed totally to "aid the digestion." (Translation--I took a nap.) I read, relaxed, ate a bunch of mini-M&Ms, dozed off, etc. Not a bad way to spend a day. Of course, I'd get bored to tears if every day was like that. Back to the yard and house work tomorrow.
