No, not for readers.
It's the challenge of finding some oddment or such in a day that was spent fighting a hip. Every once in a while some particular movement sets it to REALLY (vicodin level) hurting. Today was especially bad. I had a hard time making it from the back of the house to the front. I looked at the paper box 150 feet away, and decided to drive. My street has very little traffic, so my maneuvers with the car didn't bother anyone, and I was able to get the paper out of the tube and into the car--and then the car back into the driveway and near the house. I took a second pill, and then a nap. I spent the rest of the afternoon on the couch, but at the moment (knock wood) it's feeling okay. Good thing I wasn't planning on going in to work this week. Other than that, it was a pleasant day. Spots is quite mood-sensitive, and spent the afternoon curled up against me. This is the first time in months that Sunday TV has not had football. I can hardly wait till this evening and the ProBowl. Not that I care about who wins, but it will be a way to taper off. Today's paper has more jibes at the NFL and their claim to rights with the term Who Dats. I think they are discovering that they sound like idiots. More local "trivia:" A well-liked sportscaster (the late Buddy deLiberto) once said that he'd wear a dress if the Saints ever went to the Super Bowl. There are several groups of men who have announced that they will wear dresses in honor of Buddy D. Someone wondered if the NFL would be uptight about that. One of the things I like best about this area is there is an underlying sense of humor. When you live where it floods, the mosquitoes are bigger than birds, and the politicians sometimes lead "interesting" lives, it's good to laugh once in a while, and to find humor in little things. And Carnival is underway already. Parades on the weekends in New Orleans and Metairie, and last weekend there was a boat parade in Slidell (actually, it was in the canals of a fancy subdivision), and today there were a couple of other parades. 'Nuff for now--time to fix a bit of supper. Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
