I went with green for the new growth that will be appearing (at least where I live) in the coming month. And--because it's bright and cheery. And the weather of the past few days has been anything but.

Cold isn't even half the description. Wet is more like it.

Fortunately (for me) it hasn't been steady rain, but it is still somewhat gloomy.

I did some "stuff" around the house this morning, then about mid-afternoon headed out to the post office etc.

Today the etc. was getting my car inspected. This is actually pretty silly--they make sure your lights and turn signals are all working, as well as the horn. I guess they figure that coming to a stop in the correct place shows the brakes are okay. $10 and they slap a new sticker on the windshield.

Since the inspection place (it was a gas station till a street widening took the area formerly occupied by pumps) is just around the corner from the post office it was very handy.

As I was handing over my $10 I noticed that under the counter glass there were a bunch of copies of NSF checks. Right there for everyone to see. Not only does someone writing a rubber check get overdraft fees, but their names are out there in public. It's not like there is a huge inspection fee--it's only $10. I don't know if there's a late fee, but you have a whole month to take care of this. Lesson: don't write NSF checks to the inspection station on Fremaux.

I had some stuff to get at Walgreen's and noticed they had some new Saints shirts in. And a bunch of them had Who Dat on them. The NFL should not have messed with New Orleans over a team nickname that came from the citizens and culture of New Orleans. I'll bet a lot of Who Dat shirts have been printed since the NFL got snarky. If they're smart, they'll quit now.

I think that if when the Saints win there will be a huge outpouring of Who Dat shirts celebrating the fact.

So I didn't get any outdoor work done today--"threat of rain" is a good reason. I did get some stuff done inside.

I'll probably read this evening while I watch TV.
