I did not win the lottery (maybe because I don't buy the tickets any more?) but I did get a fair amount done at work. I think that by the end of the week it will be very close to the point where I start writing down the inventory for each carton.
And then I'll get it all typed up at home, where I am the only person using the computer. My cats have settled in for a bit--CC is on the papasan, curled up on a sweater I tossed over there several days ago. After being a cat bed it will need to be washed before going back on my body. Spots is on the floor on the other side of me--also curled up and asleep. I must remember to look before I casually roll my chair away from the table. It did not rain today. However, it was generally on the gray and gloomy side. Elections are in the air. New Orleans has the run-off for the offices that didn't have 50% plus one vote. Top two people will go at each other. On the eastern side of the lake there are Slidell city elections. Mayor and Police Chief are among the offices up for grabs. The police chief is running for mayor, and at one point the mayor was talking about running for Police Chief--which is what he was before being elected mayor. Those two offices have term limits. They do not directly involve me, since I live outside city limits. I don't think I have any elections to vote in for a while--and then there are the Congressional posts up for grabs this fall. I don't know when there will be an election to replace the Lieutenant Governor, who will soon be New Orleans' Mayor. By the time you have elections, and then run-off elections because of Louisiana's insistence that the ultimate winner have more than half the total vote cast, followed by elections to fill the seats of those who "moved up," a fair amount of time has gone by. Louisiana also has most elections on Saturdays. This is (supposedly) to allow people to vote yet not miss any work. And since school gyms are used as polling places by a lot of precincts, it makes that less chaotic. (The exception is for those running for federal office, where Election Day is mandated as the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.) Let's see--tomorrow I'll stay at home and get household stuff done. Friday will be a work day for me. I think it's supposed to be on the brisk side for the next day or so. I'll find out, won't I?
