Not much going on around here. I did a lot of this and that around the house. The little stuff tends to accumulate.

By the time I'd finished, however, it was too late to take the cat to the vet (regular shots).

So--I headed into town and stopped first at the Blood Center. They needed some blood for a routine checkup on how many red cells I have--and if it's enough to share with others.

Next stop was Arby's.

And as I was positioning my car in the left turn lane an ambulance was barreling down the road behind me. I took a deep breath and turned into Arby's on a red light so the ambulance could use the turn lane to go around the stopped traffic.

But I guess the red lights on the emergency vehicle top a little old traffic light. And the oncoming traffic was solidly stopped.

That's the second time this has happened to me.

When I got home from Arby's the big black cat came trotting out to greet me.

I heard another cat also saying "hello" but didn't spot her at first.

And then I saw her--draped happily over a branch of the tree next to the garage. That's a good vantage point for guarding the yard and keeping it free of elephants.

I'm almost done with the Brian Fagan book about ice ages and climate. I was reading it in Arby's and one of the shift managers asked me what I was reading so intently. He thought it sounded interesting and made a note of the title.

Inch by inch I'm losing the battle for space on the card table. Who is my opponent? None other than the big black cat who adopted me. He's a good cat.
