I hope all the triskadecaphobics out there are survivng today
It's a real bummer having it come so close to Tax Day. Or maybe that's totally appropriate. My day has been uneventful, as it usually is. The ceiling light in the kitchen needs a new bulb, but climbing a ladder and changing it is not a good idea for one with not one but two artificial hips. I left a message with my next door neighbor, but I suspect they took off in their camper for a couple of days. Meanwhile, I "boost" the light by using the light on the stove. I had the TV on this morning, and started paying attention when the Mayor and some other bigwigs came on. Big Time news--a local man (filthy rich of course) is buying the Hornets basketball team from the NBA--who bought it when it looked like they'd be moving. I think the price is/was about $38 million. It's the same guy who owns the Saints. Pro basketball has had a rocky road in New Orleans--the original team (I can't remember their name) moved to another city after Katrina. The Saints remained a New Orleans team but played home games somewhere in Texas that first post-K season, as I recall. New Orleans managed to attract another NBA team and they've done okay. They have a fairly decent faithful following, which is part of the reason the NBA bought them several years back. (The NBA wants to have a team in New Orleans.) So--the Hornets (can you guess where they came from?) will be staying. I cannot even begin to imagine what life must be like when you can spend (it's an investment) $38 million for a basketball team and some $40 million for a football team. Obviously, pro sports teams must be fairly good investments. Time now to get settled for the evening drivel. Read/Post Comments (5) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
