Which probably explains why I've been so stressed out this week, since I never got to release all my pent-up frustration from last week and went right into an even more stressful week. Yesterday I thought I was going to miss it again -- I was literally on my way out the door (I was in the elevator and everything) when I realized the videographer that was supposed to tape a class for us had not shown up. So I went back upstairs and tried to sort things out while cursing at most of the inanimate objects in my cubicle for not doing my job for me. (Or not letting me do my job fast enough, computer.) New Boss -- who thought I had left -- came out right as I finally was ready to go again, so I was trying to tell him what was going on while walking backwards towards the elevator (running into the water cooler in the process). Given that we had already had one screwed up videography already that day (stupid email-eating computer, again), I was not in the best of moods the second time I tried to leave the building. But, I did make it to class on time, and I did two perfect double pirouettes and a bunch of grande jetes, and stopped a Dunkin Donuts for a pumpkin muffin afterwards, and that pretty much took care of the stress. I'm not a very complicated person.
If you have not checked out the Free Rice vocabulary game, you're missing out. Yes, it's "educational," but the word choices are pretty fun ("piccalilly" came up today, and I thought "great, I only know it as my grandmother's term for pickle relish" -- turns out that's the definition they wanted)plus, for every word you get right, the sponsors of the site donate 10 grains of rice (or, I assume the monetary equivalent) to the UN World Food Program. The OU basketball teams had some big games, last night, and even though they both lost, I still thought the results were encouraging, especially considering the caliber of the competition and the relative youth of both teams. When the women played Tennessee last year, it was a pretty brutal defeat -- this year they actually had the lead with :30 seconds left. And really, after the disaster the men's team was last year (excuse me while I pause to curse Kelvin Sampson again), just being able to hang around with the number 3 team in the country -- especially after they just got back their star player -- is good enough for me. The guys are actually here in New York right now, playing in the Coaches vs. Cancer thing at MSG; I thought about getting tickets for tonight's games, but I didn't, because I am lazy, and want the maximum amount of time to pretend to clean my apartment before Thanksgiving.
