I'm on a kickball team. I figured I'd have a good time, but I had no idea how much fun it would be. Last night, despite loosing big time, was awesome. I won't go into details about the game, because it's not fun to relive but I will say this: We scored no points, after beating the team we played last week 23-4. 5 members of my team were injured. One pretty seriously.

Skipping to the fun part: we have to ref the other teams when we're not playing. Not everybody, but at least 2 people from each team have to be there 4 games of the season. Last night was our first turn to ref. In my slightly drunken state, I volunteered not only to stay for the 2nd game while 2 of my teammates reffed... I volunteered to be the HEAD REF. Ha ha ha ha. I loved every minute of it. I got to talk to the kickers and catchers from both teams and I actually know the rules of kickball which made it super enjoyable. (I should add that I'm the co-captain of my team. Which is also hilarious.)

The game was a fun one to watch. The first base coach from one team had a never-ending supply of jello shots to hand out to their teammates when running. I never set down my can of Sparks complete with can coozy to hide my alcoholic bevie from any park policemen. At one point I looked across the field and was amazed at how action packed the small park was - 3 kickball games going on, each with a handful of onlookers. 1 crazy game of bike-polo and a few groups of people playing football. Not to mention the 100s of people running, walking, biking, rollerblading around Lake Calhoun. Such a beautiful sight...

...until it started pouring. Luckily the game had just ended, but trying to run to AK's car proved quite a challenge. Both she and I pulled our quads in our game and had to limp, hop, and skip to the car. It was pouring super hard by the time we got there. I think the rain got to her because she parked the car again a block after we got in it and said she couldn't hold it any longer. She got out, squatted by the front passenger wheel, and peed in the street. I'm sure no one noticed because it was raining, right? Except she was pants-less in a pretty nice neighborhood.

The fun never ends in Mpls, folks!
