The teacher I work with is leaving today for Korea, on his way to pick up his daughter. They already have a son, adopted 2 years ago from Korea as well. I saw him in the parking lot yesterday driving home, and he had a HUGE grin on his face as he told me they were leaving. It reminds me that there is a reason we're doing this, and our road is getting so much closer to its end.

Went to the police station this morning and got our "clearance." No surprises there - no record for either of us. :) Of course, it reminded us that we have to order 4 copies of our marriage certificate. Almost forgot about that! So here's where our paperwork stands:

Letters of Employment
Photographs
copies of Marriage License
Fax paperwork to CPA and get his license

Of course, we're still awaiting official INS approval. We sent our paperwork back in August, but we hear it can take 3-4 months. So even though our paperwork would be done, we still have to wait for that.

We visited with Doug's parents the other weekend, and my mother-in-law has very generously offered to help with decorating the nursery. She has agreed to sew for us the window valance, a skirt for the big brown dresser (that will double as the changing table), and also wants to gift us with a fleece blanket to use.

So we went out shopping for material and I chose the neatest vertical-striped, orange-green-turqoise-yellow for the window valance. We'll use just white for the dresser skirt. Then we agreed a pillow for the rocking chair would be nice, and I picked out a beautiful ORANGE polkadot material. :)

Then we chose the fleece for the blanket - it's a terrific BRIGHT jungle scene complete with green monkeys, blue giraffes, yellow hippos, all jumbled up with palm trees. Chose a solid chartreuse green for the backside. :) I know it's the only time Doug will allow orange and chartreuse into the house! She promised that most of it would be done by Thanksgiving weekend. We're hoping the nursery will be painted by then, so we'll be all ready!
