Woodstock's Blog Books and other stuff I feel like discussing By education and experience - Accountant with a specialty in taxation. Formerly a CPA (license has lapsed). Masters degree in law of taxation from University of Denver. Now retired. Part time work during baseball season as receptionist & switchboard operator for the Colorado Rockies. This gig feeds my soul in ways I have trouble articulating. One daughter, and four grandchildren. I share the house with two cats; a big goof of a cat called Grinch (named as a joke for his easy going "whatever" disposition); and Lady, a shelter adoptee with a regal bearing and sweet little soprano voice. I would be very bereft if it ever becomes necessary to keep house without a cat. |

2009-09-11 7:13 AM CooRs Field Nugget Six - Sweep! Rockies made it four for four against the Reds yesterday. I was able to enjoy the game as a fan, visiting with the friends who went with me, having a beer, a footlong hot dog with kraut, and munching on salted peanuts. Very pleasant change from the lobby and the switchboard!
Jose Contreras was pitching OK, not great, but OK. However he strained his quadriceps on the base paths. Gotta be in shape to run if you've been pitching in the AL, and get traded to the NL! Juan Rincon got the win, and the bullpen held the Reds in check after the Rockies scored 5 in the third inning. Brooms everywhere you looked in the seating areas behind home plate! Since neither LA nor the Giants played yesterday, we picked up half a game on both teams. With 21 games to play, this morning's paper points out that math is on our side to keep the Rockies in place as the wild card winner. However, as one who endured September of 1969 as a Cubs fan, I am trying hard to refrains from counting chickens before they hatch. Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
