2003-02-05 6:13 PM Errors in the Menu Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.
I fouled up the exam again that I gave today, because I rushed it. There were two corrections I had to write on the board during the exam, while the students were already answering. It also looks like people are having a more difficult time with this exam, since I put the more complicated part in front (because it was an earlier topic) not like before when I put the easier question at the start. One of my co-teachers is going to Florida next week so she scheduled two stargazings for her then, on the two nights before I’m going to the province for an all night session at a school there. I guess Thursday will be wholly for resting then. Student’s Question of the Day: Why (not how) did the Greeks come up with those constellations? Because five thousand years ago, there were no video arcades, cable TV or celphones to occupy them after the sun went down. So it was either they go to sleep or lie down outside and look at the stars. It’s a testament to either their extreme boredom, vivid imagination or the fact that some of the stars have faded in the intervening millennia that’s why we couldn’t see how they perceived those figures from that pattern of stars.
